Privacy and data-use plans

MeetCat is not yet released. This notice describes this website and the data handling planned for the app. A final policy will be published before the app is made available and will reflect its actual implementation.

This website

This is a static information site hosted on GitHub Pages. It does not contain our own analytics, advertising, forms, or tracking pixels. The hosting provider processes ordinary web requests under GitHub's privacy statement. If you email us, we use your message and contact details to respond.

Planned nearby search

The app is intended to work without creating a MeetCat account. You will be able to choose a search area. Any location permission will be requested when needed for nearby search, and the final policy will identify the adoption-data and map providers receiving search requests. We do not intend to collect a movement history or run background location tracking.

Adoption information and photos

Data access is being arranged. We plan to display public animal and organization information supplied by approved providers, with source links and appropriate update information. A listing is not a guarantee that an animal is still available. We will refresh or remove temporary cached information in line with the provider's requirements.

RescueGroups.org integration, if approved

RescueGroups.org requires an animal-specific Pet Adoption Tracker request when a public animal detail page is viewed. If this integration is enabled, the app will make that required request and explain it in the final privacy policy and applicable store privacy disclosures. This website currently displays no animal profiles and does not include that tracker.

Contacting a shelter

The planned app will open the responsible organization's website, phone, or email contact. Your communications with an organization follow that organization's policies. MeetCat will not send adoption inquiries on your behalf without your action.
